Question: What is the abnormality depicted in this radiograph above, and what are 2 risk factors for development of this condition?

Answer: This radiograph shows a classic example of tophaceous gout! Note the erosive ‘punched out lesions’ in the first toe, overhanging edges, and characteristic tophi in the first MTP.
